It is very difficult to get free versions of current and popular songs, but there are quite a lot of classical and traditional tunes. Try the following sites- Good luck! The following site has a HUGE library of classical recordings in MIDI, mp3 and RealAudio formats. There is also biographical information about the composers and pictures of them.
You can download 5 free selections per day, or pay to subscribe. The selections in MIDI format can also be opened up as sheetmusic in a sequencing program such as Cakewalk or ProTools, or in Finale or Sibelius, which are music writing programs.
